Lexus NX: Front Airbag Sensor (LH) (B1615)

DESCRIPTION

The front airbag sensor LH consists of a diagnostic circuit and frontal deceleration sensor, etc.

If the airbag ECU assembly receives signals from the frontal deceleration sensor, it determines whether the SRS should be activated.

DTC B1615 is stored when a malfunction is detected in the front airbag sensor LH circuit.

  • After the power switch is turned off, there may be a waiting time before disconnecting the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

PROCEDURE

1.

CHECK FRONT AIRBAG SENSOR LH

(a) Turn the power switch off.

Airbag ECU Assembly

(b) Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

(c) Interchange the front airbag sensor LH with RH and connect the connectors to them.

(d) Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

(e) Turn the power switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

(f) Clear the DTCs stored in memory.

(g) Turn the power switch off.

(h) Turn the power switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

(i) Check for DTCs.

HINT:

Codes other than DTC B1610 and B1615 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

(j) Turn the power switch off.

(k) Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

(l) Return the front airbag sensor RH and LH to their original positions and connect the connectors to them.

DTC B1615 is output

REPLACE AIRBAG ECU ASSEMBLY

DTC B1610 is output

REPLACE FRONT AIRBAG SENSOR LH

DTC B1610 and B1615 are not output
