DTC SUMMARY
MALFUNCTION DESCRIPTION
These DTCs indicate that a large current flowed in the inverter for the generator. The cause of this malfunction may be one of the following:
Area | Main Malfunction Description | Step |
---|---|---|
Inverter low-voltage circuit | The connectors are not connected properly | 3 |
Resolver | Open or short circuit in the motor resolver or generator resolver | 4, 5 |
Inverter | Internal circuit malfunction in the inverter for the motor | 5 |
DESCRIPTION

If a circuit malfunction, overheating or an internal short circuit of the generator inverter is detected, a signal is sent from the inverter with converter assembly to the MG ECU via the inverter fail signal line.
If an abnormal amount of current flows through the generator inverter, the MG ECU detects it and sends a signal to inform the hybrid vehicle control ECU of the malfunction.
DTC No. | Detection Item | DTC Detection Condition | Trouble Area | MIL | Warning Indicate |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
P0A4C-518 | Generator Position Sensor Circuit Range / Performance | Generator inverter fail signal detected (hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly malfunction): Overcurrent occurs in the generator inverter*. (1 trip detection logic) |
| Comes on | Master Warning Light: Comes on |
P0A4C-811 | Generator Position Sensor Circuit Range / Performance | Abnormal generator inverter current (overcurrent) detected (hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly malfunction) (1 trip detection logic) |
| Comes on | Master Warning Light: Comes on |
*: The cause of the malfunction is most likely a motor resolver circuit or generator resolver circuit malfunction.
MONITOR DESCRIPTION
P0A4C (INF 518):
If excessive current flows through the generator inverter, the generator inverter will transmit an inverter fail signal to the MG ECU. Upon receiving this signal, the hybrid vehicle control ECU will illuminate the MIL and store a DTC.
P0A4C (INF 811):
If the MG ECU detects that the generator inverter current exceeds the threshold level for a period of time, the hybrid vehicle control ECU will illuminate the MIL and store a DTC.

HINT:
Waiting for at least 10 minutes is required to discharge the high-voltage capacitor inside the inverter with converter assembly.
NOTICE:
After turning the power switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.
