REMOVAL

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

CAUTION:

Wear protective gloves. Sharp areas on the parts may injure your hands.

HINT:

  • Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.
  • The procedure listed below is for the LH side.

PROCEDURE

1. PRECAUTION

CAUTION:

Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing.

NOTICE:

  • After the power switch is turned off, there may be a waiting time before disconnecting the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

  • If the front seat airbag assembly LH has deployed, replace the front seat airbag assembly LH, separate type front seatback spring assembly, separate type front seatback pad and separate type front seatback cover with the necessary parts in accordance with the extent of the collision damage.
  • If the front seat cushion airbag assembly RH has deployed, replace the front seat airbag sub-assembly RH, front seat adjuster assembly, separate type front seat cushion pad and separate type front seat cushion cover with the necessary parts in accordance with the extent of the collision damage.

2. REMOVE NO. 3 DECK BOARD SUB-ASSEMBLY

5. REMOVE FRONT SEAT HEADREST ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the front seat headrest assembly.

6. REMOVE FRONT SEAT OUTER TRACK BRACKET COVER LH

(a) Operate the front power seat switch LH (slide switch) to move the seat to the rearmost position.

(b) Detach the 2 claws to remove the front seat outer track bracket cover LH.

7. REMOVE FRONT SEAT INNER TRACK BRACKET COVER LH

(a) Detach the 2 claws to remove the front seat inner track bracket cover LH.

8. REMOVE FRONT SEAT REAR OUTER TRACK COVER LH

(a) Operate the front power seat switch LH (slide switch) to move the seat to the foremost position.

(b) Detach the 2 claws to remove the front seat rear outer track cover LH.

9. REMOVE FRONT SEAT REAR INNER TRACK COVER LH

(a) Detach the 2 claws to remove the front seat rear inner track cover LH.

10. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY LH

(a) for Driver Side:

(1) Turn the power switch on (IG). Operate the tilt and telescopic switch to fully retract and tilt up the steering column assembly.

(2) Turn the power switch off.

(b) Remove the 2 bolts.

(c) Operate the front power seat switch LH (slide switch) to move the seat to the rearmost position.

(d) Remove the 2 bolts.

(e) Operate the front power seat switch LH (slide switch) to move the seat to the center position.

(f) Operate the front power seat switch LH (reclining switch) to move the seatback to the upright position.

(g) Operate the front power seat switch LH (front vertical switch and rear lifter switch) to move the seat to the highest position.

(h) Disconnect the cable from the auxiliary battery negative (-) terminal.

CAUTION:

Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the auxiliary battery negative (-) terminal to disable the SRS system.

(1) Loosen the nut and disconnect the cable from the auxiliary battery negative (-) terminal.

(i) for Driver Side:

(1) Disconnect the 2 connectors.

(2) Detach the 2 clamps to disconnect the wire harness.

(3) Disconnect the connector of the front seat airbag assembly LH.

  1. Push down the white housing lock and slide the yellow CPA. (At this time, the connector cannot be disconnected yet.)

  2. Push down the white housing lock again and disconnect the connector.

    NOTICE:

    Do not push down the part (A) shown in the illustration when disconnecting the connector.

(j) for Passenger Side:

(1) Disconnect the 2 connectors.

(2) Detach the 2 clamps to disconnect the wire harness.

(3) Disconnect the connector of the front seat airbag assembly RH.

  1. Push down the white housing lock and slide the yellow CPA. (At this time, the connector cannot be disconnected yet.)

  2. Push down the white housing lock again and disconnect the connector.

    NOTICE:

    Do not push down the part (A) shown in the illustration when disconnecting the connector.

(4) Disconnect the connector of the front seat cushion airbag assembly RH.

Place a finger on the slider, slide the slider to release the lock, and then disconnect the front seat side airbag connector.

(k) Remove the front seat assembly LH from the vehicle.

NOTICE:

  • 2 or more people are required when carrying the front seat assembly out of the vehicle.
  • Be careful not to damage the vehicle body.

HINT:

for Driver Side:

When removing the front seat assembly from the vehicle, pass it through under the steering wheel.
