Lexus NX: Initialization
INITIALIZATION
INITIALIZE SLIDING ROOF SYSTEM
NOTICE:
-
When the roof glass is adjusted or removed/installed, or the sliding roof drive gear sub-assembly is replaced, the glass position cannot be determined and the sliding roof drive gear sub-assembly must be initialized (pulse sensor initial position setting). If initialization is not performed, the auto function, jam protection function, key-off operation, wireless transmitter-linked operation, key-linked function and open warning function may not operate, or the sliding roof may become misaligned.
-
During initialization, do not apply a physical shock, such as opening/closing a door or driving the vehicle at 5 km/h or more, to the vehicle and do not perform any electrical operations.
-
If the negative battery terminal is disconnected under the following conditions, initialization of the sliding roof drive gear sub-assembly may not be completed.
-
Within 2 seconds after roof glass operation stops.
-
Within 10 seconds after the power switch is turned off.
HINT:
The slide roof switch is positioned in the map light assembly.
(a) INITIALIZATION
Condition of Sliding Roof | Proceed to |
Auto function does not operate (only roof glass manual tilt up and slide close functions operate) | Procedure A |
Auto function does not operate (manual function operates) | Procedure B |
Automatically moves, but the sliding roof glass moves in the reverse direction during slide close or tilt down operation | Procedure C |
Sliding roof does not fully close due to misalignment, etc. | Procedure D |
(1) Procedure A
NOTICE:
-
Press and hold the DOWN switch or CLOSE switch until the roof glass stops at the fully closed position and initialization completes. If the switch is released partway, perform the procedure again from the first step.
-
Do not allow anything to become caught in the sliding roof by accident while performing this inspection. The roof glass only operates in a certain direction (does not reverse direction) until a slide close or tilt up operation is performed once.
When roof glass position is in slide open position:
-
Turn the power switch on (IG).
-
Press and hold the DOWN switch or CLOSE switch.
-
The roof glass operates in the following order: Slides open approximately 25 mm [0.98 in.]* → slides closed → tilts down → tilts up → slides closed → reverses position during initialization (approximately 245 mm [9.65 in.] open) → slides closed → tilts down → tilts up → tilts down.
HINT:
*: When operation before initialization was in open direction.
-
The roof glass stops at the tilt down fully closed position and initialization completes.
-
Make sure that the sliding roof auto function operates normally.
When roof glass position is between tilt up and fully closed position:
-
Turn the power switch on (IG).
-
Press and hold the DOWN switch or CLOSE switch.
-
The roof glass operates in the following order: Slightly tilted down* → tilts up → reverses position during initialization (approximately 245 [9.65 in.] mm open) → slides closed → tilts down → tilts up → tilts down.
HINT:
*: When operation before initialization was in tilt down direction.
-
The roof glass stops at the tilt down fully closed position and initialization completes.
-
Make sure that the sliding roof auto function operates normally.
(2) Procedure B
-
Turn the power switch on (IG).
-
Press and hold the OPEN switch to move the roof glass to the fully open position.
-
Press and hold the CLOSE switch to move the roof glass to the fully closed position.
-
Press and hold the UP switch to move the roof glass to the fully tilted up position.
-
Press and hold the DOWN switch to move the roof glass to the fully closed position.
-
After initialization completes, make sure that the sliding roof auto function operates normally.
(3) Procedure C
When roof glass is tilted up:
-
Turn the power switch on (IG).
-
Press and hold the DOWN switch for 10 seconds or more until the roof glass fully closes.
-
Check that the roof glass can only be operated via manual operation.
-
Perform procedure B and complete initialization.
When roof glass is not slid open:
-
Turn the power switch on (IG).
-
Press and hold the CLOSE switch for 10 seconds or more until the roof glass fully closes.
-
Check that the roof glass can only be operated via manual operation.
-
Perform procedure B and complete initialization.
(4) Procedure D
When roof glass is fully closed:
-
Turn the power switch on (IG).
-
Press and hold the DOWN switch or CLOSE switch for 10 seconds or more.
-
Check that the roof glass can only be tilted up via manual operation.
-
Perform procedure A and complete initialization.
When roof glass is not slid open:
-
Turn the power switch on (IG).
-
Press and hold the DOWN switch and CLOSE switch simultaneously for 10 seconds or more.
-
