Lexus NX: System Description

SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

AUTOMATIC LIGHT CONTROL SYSTEM

(a) When the headlight dimmer switch is in the AUTO position, the automatic light control system detects ambient light levels and controls the headlights, taillights, front fog lights, clearance lights and license plate lights.

LIGHT AUTO TURN-OFF SYSTEM

(a) The light auto turn-off system is used to prevent the driver from leaving the vehicle with the headlights, front fog lights, clearance lights, taillights or license plate lights on. When all of the following conditions are met, the exterior lights turn off after 30 seconds:

  • The headlights, front fog lights, clearance lights, taillights, or license plate lights are on.
  • The power switch is turned from on (IG) to off.
  • Any of the doors are opened, and then all the doors are closed.

DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT SYSTEM

(a) The daytime running light system is designed to automatically illuminate the clearance lights (high intensity parking lights), during the daytime to make the car more visible to other vehicles.

  • The main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) controls this system.
  • This system is enabled when the conditions below are met:
    • The power switch is on (IG).
    • READY condition is received.
    • Parking brake is released.
    • Headlight dimmer switch not in the DRL OFF position. (w/ DRL OFF switch)
    • Headlight dimmer switch is in the tail or AUTO position (and the low beam headlights are not turned on via the automatic light control system).
    • When the turn signal light or hazard warning lights are illuminated, the daytime running light of the flashing light turns off. The daytime running light turns on again after the turn signal light or hazard warning lights are turned off.

LANE CHANGE FLASHER SYSTEM

  • When moving the headlight dimmer switch (turn signal switch) to the lane change position (it is not necessary to hold the switch) during a lane change, the turn signal light flashes a specified number of times.
  • While the turn signal light is flashing after the headlight dimmer switch (turn signal switch) is moved to the lane change position (it is not necessary to hold the switch), the turn signal light turns off if the headlight dimmer switch (turn signal switch) is moved in the opposite direction.
  • The combination meter controls this system.

WELCOME LIGHT ILLUMINATION CONTROL

(a) When a wireless door unlock operation or entry door unlock operation is performed at nighttime, the taillights, clearance lights and license plate lights illuminate for approximately 15 seconds.

Vehicle Speed Signal Circuit between Navigation ECU and Combination Meter

DESCRIPTION The navigation ECU receives a vehicle speed signal from the combination meter assembly. HINT: A voltage of 12 V or 5 V is output from each ECU and then input to the combination meter assembly. The signal is changed to a pulse signal at the transistor in the combination meter assembly.
