Front Recognition Camera Optical Axis Misalignment Malfunction

While driving at a vehicle speed of 5 km/h (3 mph) or higher after 3 seconds have elapsed since turning the power switch on (IG), the axis misalignment of the forward recognition camera is detected

  • Windshield glass
  • Vehicle operating conditions
  • Wheel alignment
  • Forward recognition camera

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

NOTICE:

  • When replacing the forward recognition camera, always replace it with a new one. If a forward recognition camera which was installed to another vehicle is used, the information stored in it will not match the information from the vehicle and a DTC may be stored.
  • If the forward recognition camera has been replaced with a new one, be sure to perform forward recognition camera adjustment.

    HINT:

Forward recognition camera adjustment can be performed by using either "One Time Recognition" or "Sequential Recognition".

  • When replacing the windshield glass equipped with the forward recognition camera, be sure to replace it with a genuine windshield glass for the forward recognition camera. A windshield glass other than a genuine windshield glass for the forward recognition camera does not have a camera installation bracket. Therefore, the forward recognition camera cannot be installed. If the forward recognition camera is mounted on a windshield glass that is not a genuine windshield glass for the forward recognition camera, the forward recognition camera may not operate properly because of the transmittance of the windshield glass and the shape of black ceramic parts.
  • The beam axis may become misaligned while driving on circuits or banked roads. If this occurs, driving on normal roads for a while will correct the misalignment.
  • The beam axis may become misaligned while driving overloading or when vehicle toe is displaced. If this occurs, re-adjusting the load or adjusting toe-in will correct the misalignment.
