OPERATION CHECK

CHECK BASIC FUNCTION

(a) Operate the rear power seat switch, No. 1 fold seat switch assembly and No. 2 fold seat switch assembly and check that each switch function operates normally.

  • Reclining operation (rear power seat switch)
  • Fold operation (rear power seat switch, No. 1 fold seat switch assembly and No. 2 fold seat switch assembly)
  • Return operation (rear power seat switch, No. 1 fold seat switch assembly and No. 2 fold seat switch assembly)

CHECK RECLINING OPERATION

HINT:

The rear power seat fold and return switch is also used as the forward and backward reclining switch.

(a) Operation conditions:

  • Initialization is completed.
  • Seatback within reclining operation range (between upright position and return end position).
  • Other switches not operated.

(b) When the rear power seat fold switch is pressed and held, check that a seatback forward reclining operation is performed. Also, when the fold switch is released, check that the operation stops. Next, press and hold the rear power seat fold switch again. When the seatback reaches the upright position, check that the forward reclining operation stops.

(c) When the rear power seat return switch is pressed and held, check that a seatback backward reclining operation is performed. Also, when the return switch is released, check that the operation stops. Next, press and hold the rear power seat return switch again. When the seatback reaches the return end position, check that the backward reclining operation stops.

(d) When the seatback detects a jam during a reclining operation, check that the reclining operation stops.

CHECK FOLD OPERATION (REAR POWER SEAT SWITCH OPERATION)

(a) Operation conditions:

  • Initialization complete.
  • Vehicle stopped.

    Power Switch State

    Condition

    Power switch on (IG)

    Shift lever in P, stop light switch assembly on or parking brake switch assembly on

    Vehicle speed below 5 km/h (3.1 mph).

    Power switch off

    -

  • Rear door open (side where switch is operated).
  • Other switches not operated.
  • Seatback within fold operation range (between upright position and fold end position).

(b) When the rear power seat switch fold switch is pressed and held for 0.5 seconds, check that the buzzer sounds 2 times and a seatback auto fold operation is performed. Afterward, when the seatback reaches the fold end position, check that the fold operation completes and the buzzer sounds 2 times.

When normal operation resumes, the buzzer stops.

(d) Jam detected during fold operation (between upright position and jam return position):

(1) Check that the fold operation stops and the buzzer continuously sounds.

HINT:

When normal operation resumes, the buzzer stops.

(e) Jam detected during fold operation (between jam return position and overload detection lower limit position):

(1) Check that the seatback reverses operation until the jam return position while the reverse auto operation buzzer sounds. Afterward, when the seatback reaches the jam return position, check that the buzzer continuously sounds.

HINT:

When normal operation resumes, the buzzer stops.

(f) When the rear power seat switch fold switch is pressed and held for 0.5 seconds with the following conditions met, a seatback fold operation is not performed and the buzzer sounds 1 time: 1) Power switch is on (IG), 2) shift lever not in P and N, 3) stop light switch assembly off, and 4) parking brake switch assembly off.

HINT:

When the above conditions are met, the seatback is in the upright position and the door is closed on the side the switch is operated, the buzzer does not sound.

(g) Press and hold the fold switch of the rear power seat switch for 0.5 seconds with the rear door closed on the side the switch is operated. Check that a seatback fold operation is not performed and the buzzer sounds 1 time.

CHECK FOLD OPERATION (NO. 1 FOLD SEAT SWITCH ASSEMBLY OR NO. 2 FOLD SEAT SWITCH ASSEMBLY)

(a) Operation conditions:

  • Initialization complete.
  • Vehicle stopped.

    Shift lever in P, stop light switch assembly on or parking brake switch assembly on

    Vehicle speed below 5 km/h (3.1 mph).

  • Back door open (when operating No. 2 fold seat switch assembly only).

  • Seatback within fold operation range (from return end position to before fold final position).

(b) When the fold switch of the No. 1 fold seat switch assembly or No. 2 fold seat switch assembly is pressed and held for 0.5 seconds, check that the buzzer sounds 2 times and a seatback auto fold operation is performed. Afterward, when the seatback reaches the fold end position, check that the fold operation completes and the buzzer sounds 2 times.

(f) Jam detected during fold operation (between jam return position and overload detection lower limit position):

(1) Check that the seatback reverses operation until the jam return position while the reverse auto operation buzzer sounds. Afterward, when the seatback reaches the jam return position, check that the buzzer continuously sounds.

HINT:

When normal operation resumes, the buzzer stops.

(g) When the fold switch of the No. 1 fold seat switch assembly or No. 2 fold seat switch assembly is pressed and held for 0.5 seconds with the following conditions met, a seatback fold operation is not performed and the buzzer sounds 1 time: 1) Power switch is on (IG), 2) shift lever not in P and N, 3) stop light switch assembly off, and 4) parking brake switch assembly off.

(h) Press and hold the fold switch of the No. 2 fold seat switch assembly for 0.5 seconds with the rear door closed on the side the switch is operated. Check that a seatback fold operation is not performed and the buzzer sounds 1 time.

CHECK RETURN OPERATION (REAR POWER SEAT SWITCH OPERATION)

(a) Operation conditions:

  • Initialization complete.
  • Vehicle stopped.

  • Seatback within return operation range (between fold end position and before upright position).

(b) When the rear power seat return switch is pressed and held for 0.5 seconds, check that the buzzer sounds 2 times and a seatback auto return operation is performed. Afterward, when the seatback reaches the upright position, check that the return operation completes and the buzzer sounds 2 times.

(d) Jam detected during return operation:

(1) Check that the seatback operates in reverse for 10° while the reverse auto operation buzzer sounds. Afterward, check that the continuous buzzer sounds.

HINT:

When normal operation resumes, the buzzer stops.

(e) When the vehicle is being driven (see above) and the rear power seat return switch is pressed and held for 0.5 seconds, check that a seatback return operation is not performed and the buzzer sounds 1 time.

(f) Press and hold the rear power seat return switch for 0.5 seconds with the rear door closed on the side the switch is operated. Check that a seatback return operation is not performed and the buzzer sounds 1 time.

CHECK RETURN OPERATION (NO. 1 FOLD SEAT SWITCH ASSEMBLY OR NO. 2 FOLD SEAT SWITCH ASSEMBLY)

(a) Operation conditions:

  • Initialization complete.
  • Vehicle stopped.

  • Seatback within return operation range (between fold end position and before neutral position).

(b) When the rear power seat return switch is pressed and held for 0.5 seconds, check that the buzzer sounds 2 times and a seatback auto return operation is performed. Afterward, when the seatback reaches the upright position, check that the return operation completes and the buzzer sounds 2 times.

(e) Jam detected during return operation (between upright position and neutral position):

(1) Check that the seatback operates in reverse for 10° while the reverse auto operation buzzer sounds.

HINT:

When normal operation resumes, the buzzer stops.

(f) When the vehicle is being driven (see above) and the return switch of the No. 1 fold seat switch assembly or No. 2 fold seat switch assembly is pressed and held for 0.5 seconds, check that a seatback return operation is not performed and the buzzer sounds 1 time.

(g) Press and hold the return switch of the No. 2 fold seat switch assembly for 0.5 seconds with the rear door closed on the side the switch is operated. Check that a seatback return operation is not performed and the buzzer sounds 1 time.
